All replacement windows for domestic properties are now covered by building regulations and have to by law to comply with a new Government specification introduced in April 2002, known as "document L". Once windows have been installed a certificate of compliance will be issued which should be lodged with the house deeds. If you come to sell your property this certificate will be requested to show that the windows installed do comply with the new specification. Listed buildings are exempt from these rules. Windows now have to be double glazed and comply with a high level of thermal effeciency
What is available?
A) Slim steel windows in original style with brass handles and pin and stay latch. 24mm sealed units with argon gas.
- Choose from original very slim steel windows in hot dipped galvanised finish plus a polyester coloured finish in single glazed or in double glazed format with 24mm sealed units. These windows are commonly known as the original Crittall window.
B) Slimline thermally insulated replacement aluminium windows in equal leg profile.
- These windows are a slimline direct into brick fitting, thermally insulated powder coated double glazed aluminium windows many colours available. Choice of 24mm or 28mm sealed units. Also a full range of thermally insulated aluminium conservatories are available.
C) Slimline unequal leg aluminium windows that can be fitted into your existing timber frames if in sound condition and enough depth. These windows can also be fitted with new hardwood frames if required.
- Mono ranges of thermally insulated aluminium windows, designed to replace the original timber sub frame and the steel Crittall window. Available with nice inside scalloped finish which mimics the attractive finish on many of the timber windows fitted to houses in the 1920s, 1930s and 1940s.
